Stuff I Use

This page is under construction.

I get asked what I use in my bus build and day-to-day life, so I thought I’d put everything in one place.

This isn’t a “perfect setup” — it’s just what I’m personally using, what’s worked well, and a few things I’m still figuring out along the way.

I’ll keep updating this page as I go, so feel free to bookmark it if you’re building your own setup.

🔋 Power & Electrical

This is the heart of the whole setup — without this, nothing else works.

Solar Panels
These keep everything running when I’m off-grid. I sized my system to cover most of my daily needs.

I bought second hand house panels. I have 3 x 315 watt, 38 volt, 9 amp panels on the roof

Solar Charge Controller
Manages the power coming in from the panels and keeps the batteries safe.

Lithium Batteries
I went with lithium for the weight and efficiency. Expensive, but worth it for how I use the bus.

Inverter
Lets me run 240V appliances like my induction cooktop.

Battery Monitor
One of the most important things — this tells me exactly what’s going on with my system.

DC-DC Charger
Charges the batteries while I’m driving.

Wiring, Fuses & Connectors
Not exciting, but absolutely critical for safety and reliability.

🚿 Bathroom Setup

This was one of my biggest projects — and definitely a learning curve.

Shower Fittings (hose, head, mixer)
Simple setup, but makes a huge difference to comfort.

Waterproof Wall Panels
Easy to clean and much lighter than tiles.

Sealants & Waterproofing
Very important in a small space — this is not the place to cut corners.

Duck Board
One of those small things that makes the shower feel a lot nicer (and keeps your feet out of the water).

Towel Hooks & Storage
Simple but necessary in a compact space.

💧 Water System

Keeping things simple has worked well for me.

Water Tanks
Fresh water storage for daily use.

Water Pump
Gives consistent pressure for the tap and shower.

Hoses & Fittings
Lots of trial and error here to get everything working properly.

Tap & Sink Setup
Basic but functional — does the job.

🍳 Cooking Setup

I like having options depending on the weather and power.

Induction Cooktop
My main way of cooking when I have enough solar.

Metho (Alcohol) Stove
Backup for cloudy days or when I want to conserve power.

Kettle, Pots & Pans
Just the basics — keeping it simple.

🛠️ Build & Fitout

All the bits that make the bus feel like a home.

Wall Panels & Materials
Lightweight and practical.

Flooring
Something durable and easy to clean.

Insulation
Important for both heat and cold.

Adhesives & Fixings
You end up using more of these than you think.

Storage Solutions
Always evolving — you never quite get this perfect.

🎥 Camera & Filming Gear

This is what I use to film all my videos.

Camera (DJI)
Small, easy to use, and perfect for this kind of filming.

Microphones
Makes a huge difference to audio quality.

Tripod / Mounts
Helps me film solo without too much hassle.

Editing Software
I edit everything in Final Cut Pro.

🔥 Off-Grid Extras

A few extra things that make life a bit easier (or more interesting).

Water Distiller
A bit of an experiment, but I’ve had fun playing around with it.

Outdoor Setup (chairs, table, etc.)
Simple gear that makes outdoor living more enjoyable.

👨‍🔧 Helpful Resources

I’ve learned a lot from other people along the way.

Kevin’s Website
A great resource for understanding systems and setups — especially if you’re just getting started.

💬 A Quick Note

I’m not sponsored by any of this (at least not yet!).
This is just what I’ve chosen based on my own research, trial and error, and what works for me.

As I keep building and improving the bus, I’ll update this page with anything new I try — including things that don’t work so well.

If you’ve got questions about anything here, feel free to leave a comment on one of my videos — I read them all 😊
